Additional The Nonrunner's Marathon Guide for Women: Get Off Your Butt and On with Your Training Information

Dawn Dais hated running. And it didn't like her much, either. Her fitness routine consisted of avoiding the stairs in her own house, because who really has the energy to climb stairs? It was with this exercise philosophy firmly in place that she set off to complete a marathon.
The Nonrunner’s Marathon Guide for Women is a fun training manual for women who don't believe that running is their biological destiny but who dream of crossing the finish line nonetheless. It opens with a realistic training schedule and is chock-full of how-to's, quizzes, and funny observations, which Dais felt were lacking in the guides she had consulted.
The Nonrunner’s Marathon Guide for Women also integrates entries from Dias' journal, sharing everything would-be marathoners need to know about the gear, the blisters, the early morning workouts, the late-night carb binges, and — most important of all — the amazing rewards.
Anyone can do a marathon. This book just makes the experience a little more bearable and a lot more fun.

What Customers Say About The Nonrunner's Marathon Guide for Women: Get Off Your Butt and On with Your Training:

I caught myself being more entertained than motivated; the author has a great sense of humor and is very realistic. This book almost fit the bill. Its simply not the type of motivation I am looking for, but I'm sure others will find it useful. I love running, yet I am not a runner. I'm always looking for some sort of motivation.

After reading her book, I'm inspired to do a full marathon next year. I've been running for 12 years and Dawn's humor and honesty has helped me during my training for a half marathon. I highly recommend this book to any one even remotely interested in running. Whether you're just starting out or are an avid runner, I think you'll find the book to be hilarious as well as informative and inspirational.

This book is absolutely hilarious. Feel overwhelmed at the thought of running a marathon or intimidated by all of the "athletes" out there.4. There is a running schedule for beginners* and some practical advice along the way. Have no clue how to get started or a realistic view of what to expect on your quest to become a runner.2.

This book is about an experience, not a how-to book. Need some motivation and support to finally get started.5. Do not let that stop you from getting this book. There are plenty of training schedules out there and they are all slightly different. It's there more as a reference rather than a "do it this way" rule. This is the book for "the rest of us" and talks about all of the things all the "runners" will never tell you.

Have the overwhelming urge to laugh until you almost collapse in tears and wet your pants.*One reviewer didn't recommend the training schedule supplied in the book. Like your running shoes, they are not one-size-fits-all. Most of all, it's an entertaining description of in-the-trenches training that us newbies can relate to.Read this book if you:1. Have ever gotten passed by the walkers.3.

Her journal entries are the best part of this book. She touched on a lot of personal issues that runners face. While I would certainly supplement this book with other (more serious) training books, this one is quite inspiring and a nice break from "the norm." I enjoyed the humor in this book. The author is very sarcastic and dry, which is fun.

Beginning runners as well as seasoned veterans will enjoy this book as everyone can relate to the author's journey. This book is hilarious and I highly recommend it for anyone who runs or wants to run. The author has a great writing style and will have you laughing out loud.
